" Happy 12 year Birthday to The Sisters, Katie and
Lizzy!"
May 8, 2007 I tell 'The Sisters',
(Katie and Lizzy) that they came from where the Angels live! They were
a Gift 'sent' to me from above, without question.
I found 'The Sisters' when
they were about 8 weeks old...they had been 'thrown away' in a flower
dumpster at the Cemetery where my Grandparents are buried. It was
about 90 degrees that day and they were a few hours away from imminent
death. They were 3/4 of a pound....and SO SICK,
malnourished, dehydrated and afflicted with every parasite around.
They very weak and way too little to be away from their Mom. My
Katie was in a coma and My Lizzy had just enough strength left to make
their presence known....She saved them!
I lifted them up and
put them in my car and drove about 30 miles to the Vet
Clinic at about 100 miles an hour! I didn't think that Katie
was alive when I got there with them....but, she was......just
barely! The Vets told me it would take
lot's intensive care and treatments, and at least 3 months
to know IF they could and would survive!
Because of their age and
size and their fragile conditions, My Vets were constantly
consulting with the Vet School at The University to know how to 'dose
and treat' some of their health issues. Katie and Lizzy
became well known by a lot of Vets...and had their own 'professional
cheering section' going. EVERYONE was thrilled and relieved when they
turned the corner and it became apparent that against all odds....they
WERE going to make it!!!!!! GO SISTERS!
Well, that is now 12
years ago and many many miles ago, and a life lived with
lot's of DOG FOOD, medicine, special needs care, toys and
treats, much much love, and wonderful Vet Care!
Their little lives are
compromised now with the ravages of age and health problems....however,
We deal with it and LIFE IS GOOD FOR THE SISTERS! My Bingo
and I call them "The Girrrrrllllssss'! He will call for the
"Girrrrllllssss several times a day. He
says..."Girrrrllllssss....I'm Mom's Boy!" It is so Cute!
